Bountiful Technologies Showcases Robotics and STEM Education at 2024 Ghana Digital Innovation Week

The 2024 Ghana Digital Innovation Week (GDIW), held from October 2 to 4 at the Accra International Conference Centre, proved to be a significant event for promoting technological advancements and STEM education in Ghana. Organized by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) in collaboration with the Ghana Hubs Network (GHN) and Impact Investing Ghana (IIGh), the event attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including educators, innovators, and tech enthusiasts, under the theme: “Innovate Together: Collaborating for Digital Transformation and Impact.”

Representatives from Bountiful Technologies Company Limited, including General Manager Gideon Boakye Jubin, Field Operation Officer Samuel Kwesi Ocloo, and Administrator Ruth Mensah, showcased the impact of robotics and STEM education through interactive sessions and exhibitions. Their booth featured a variety of VEX robotics products, 3D printing technologies, and the Science of Reading initiative, aiming to inspire students to engage deeply with STEM.

During the opening ceremony, notable speakers, including Amma Lartey, CEO of Impact Investing Ghana, emphasized the significance of collaboration in driving innovation. Lartey remarked that this year marked a milestone for GDIW, highlighting the event’s evolution into a multilateral collaboration with partners from around the globe.

Bountiful Technologies participated actively in various sessions. The breakout session, moderated by nurse and robotics instructor Tracy Tenkorang, drew 85 participants, where panelists discussed how robotics is transforming STEM education. Gideon Boakye Jubin and Samuel Ocloo led hands-on workshops that allowed participants to operate VEX V5 robots, engage with 3D printing, and learn basic programming using VEX 123 robots. Participants expressed enthusiasm for the interactive learning experiences, enhancing their understanding of robotics in real-world applications.

Bountiful Technologies’ team suggested improved resource allocation and better coordination for future events to enhance participant engagement and overall experience.

The GDIW 2024 reaffirmed the commitment of the Ghanaian government and various stakeholders to enhancing digital infrastructure, fostering innovation, and promoting digital literacy. As Dr. Samuel Antwi Gyekyi from the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation stated, “GDIW is not just a celebration; it is a testimony to our collective achievement and an affirmation of our commitment to a future where digital innovation drives progress and prosperity for all Ghanaians.”

Overall, the collaboration between Bountiful Technologies and GDIW marks a promising step towards nurturing the next generation of innovators in Ghana, ensuring that STEM education remains accessible and engaging for all students.
