“Empowering Education: Launching Ghana’s #Asesseeso STEM Center of Excellence”

A significant milestone was achieved in the field of education as the #Asesseeso STEM Center of Excellence was inaugurated in the Okere District of the Eastern Region of Ghana. The launch coincided with intensive training workshops for over 30 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) educators, marking a pivotal moment for the advancement of STEM education in the region.

The initiative, made possible through the generous support of various organizations and individuals, promises to revolutionize the teaching and learning of STEM subjects in the district. Mr. Ato Brown, the visionary founder of Albert’s Haven Autism Foundation, spearheaded the funding for the project. His contribution facilitated the furnishing of the center, acquisition of VEX Robotics kits, branding, teacher training expenses, provision of meals, and internet connectivity.

Additionally, Jim Laudie of Bountiful STEM Educational Foundation donated 10 desktop computers equipped with STEM Labs, further enriching the educational resources available at the center. Tyson Smith of Reading Horizons’ Elevate Science of Reading Software also contributed to the initiative, enhancing the technological infrastructure essential for modern education.

The successful execution of the project would not have been possible without the technical expertise and support provided by Bountiful Technologies Ltd team, led by Gideon Jubin, Samuel Ocloo, Frank Manu, and Abdul Fatawu Sulemana. Their dedication ensured the seamless integration of technology into the educational framework of the STEM Center.

Acknowledgment is also due to Mrs. Angles Abban, Director of Ghana Education Service, Okere District, whose endorsement and support were instrumental in bringing the project to fruition. Special gratitude is extended to Jason McKenna for his insightful book, “What STEM Can Do For Your Classroom,” which served as a valuable resource for educators involved in the training workshops.

The impact of the #Asesseeso STEM Center of Excellence is expected to be far-reaching, benefiting over 3000 students and 70 teachers in the Okere District. By enhancing the quality of STEM education and promoting project-based learning, the center aims to inspire and empower learners to pursue careers in STEM fields, thus contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.

The inauguration of the STEM Center marks a significant step forward in Ghana’s educational landscape, reflecting a collective commitment to fostering innovation, critical thinking, and excellence in STEM education. As the center begins its journey, it holds the promise of unlocking limitless potential and shaping a brighter future for generations to come.
